Just a neat little trick / workaround for adding chrome rims to a few specific chrome rims. This will allow you to color wheels while keeping a chrome lip.
Rims confirmed to work

Simple instructions
Buy any paintable rim
Paint it any color
Go buy/put on the chrome rim from the list above.

Welcome to my review on one of the latest models AUTOart has to offer! This is the Gran Turismo 5 Stealth Version of the McLaren F1!
As a fan of A) The McLaren F1 B) Stealth Version cars and C) Gran Turismo 5 (100% Complete, Level 40 A and B Spec!) you can imagine my excitement when this model first showed up on the AUTOart website. I bought their roadcar version of the F1 when it was first released two years ago, this time of year. Well, here I am again. This time I am buying the beefed up Gran Turismo 5 Stealth edition. Everything about this model is stealth. The color, the racing stripes, the interior…all blaaaack.
As with the regular version of the F1, this model exceeds all expectations you might have of a 1/18 scale die cast model. AUTOart as always has done a superb job. I do have two minor complaints. The first is that they should done it with different wheels. Imagine how great this model would look with some racing BBS rims (think of the wheels that the LM version of the F1 would have) instead of black versions of the roadcar wheels. The second is that while there seem to be some minor improvements over the roadcar version, this doesn’t quite stand out enough from the original. The big wing, stellar paint job (the model is made of metal, but isn’t cool to the touch to coincide with the carbon fiber texture), and miniature helmet aren’t quite enough to give it an edge. This was kind of expected given AUTOart’s history of making their own race versions of existing cars that they make. Go back and look at the Ford GTs that they released for Gran Turismo 4. New paint job, big wing, very little else. Same thing with the Team Lexus IS300. It looked very much a racecar on the outside, but it shared the full leather interior from the street version. Given the extra cost of this model, it would’ve been nice to get just a little bit more effort.

What about companies like BMW, Porsche or Benz or Audi offering 20 inch wheels in their accessories/upgrade options? Do you still consider those upgrades as “stock wheels”. Like some of those upgrades cost $2-5K. At that point one could start considering after-market tire options.
Also, what about the actual performance benefits or stronger/lighter rims and larger stickier rubber? For example, a couple vehicle mags upgraded the rims/tires on Toyota GT86 and it’s handles and stops even better.
